With 1.3 Million Inhabitants Auvergne is a green region located in the centre of France, in the geographical area famous for its very old volcanos and called Massif Central. It is 26000 km2 and gathers 4 departments : Allier, Cantal, Puy de Dome and Haute Loire. Montluçon is located in Allier. The regional capital is Clermont-Ferrand. So Auvergne is a mountains region with highest point Puys de Sancy (1886m). It also has many lakes and rivers. Clermont-Ferrand its capital city is one of the oldest city in France (63BC) and the 18th biggest French city. It has 400 000 inhabitants. Michelin (tires constructor), agriculture (8.5% of employment (=2x the national average)) and tourism are part of Auvergne economy. Favorite tourism activities in Auvergne are water-cure in the many thermal cities (Vichy, La Bourboule, Neris-les-bains, etc.) of the region, ecotourism and ski in its famous ski resorts (Le Lioran, Superbesse, Mont-Dore.)
