Akçaabat Atatürk Mesleki ve Teknik Anadolu Lisesi
Akçaabat Hotel & Tourism Vocational Secondary School is a public school with 360 students, 36 teachers and 18 job assistants. It offers 4year-vocational education in Catering or Accommodation departments and English or Russian languages. It also gives VET to the market or to adults.
It has a practice hotel open to public and provides our students with the opportunity to be trained in authentic tourism situations. In addition, our 10th and 11th grade students are sent to prominent tourism spots in Turkey for their job training.
Most of the students come from lower income level. Normally they have no opportunity to go abroad and some of them not even to the neighbor cities. They hardly have opportunity to practice language. These deficiencies hinders students take English as a communication means.
The trainee students and graduates of the school are preferred by private foundations with their diligence, practicality and physical appropriateness. On this stage, language deficiency and lack of information about the job opportunities across Europe stand as barriers for the students to be hired abroad.
The Black Sea region possess blend of natural, historical beauties but there is only a few proper organizations to market this potential. All level representatives of the tourism sector should be encouraged towards seeking rural tourism opportunities.
By this project we mean; to foster vocational and personal quality and vocational language skills of our students and staff by means of mobilities to different cultures; to increase the entrepreneurship vision and job opportunities of our students and the region; to market and advertise beauties of the region; increase the quality and attractiveness of vocational education and support reciprocal learning.

Tourist industry is something which is still to be developed and it would be supported with well-trained professions and skilled workers who have the professional and personal competence to fulfill the requirements needed in a prospective tourist industry.
To improve the educational environments and in order to have well-skilled workers for the tourist sector we should explore the need of the market at local and international level.
Our school is situated in the south-east of Hungary which is a disadvantaged area as for its economic resources.
Most of our students come from families with poor financial and cultural background so completing a marketable diploma is a must to have chances in their life.
